Acupressure is a form of bodywork which allows the energy of the body to be easily accessed and influenced. It provides relaxation and rejuvenation for your body, mind and soul.

Our energetic and physical bodies can become mistuned causing blockages to occur. Acupressure is a centuries old holistic healing method that can help alleviate pain and bring mental clarity. Its application rejuvenates the physical, energetic, and emotional bodies.

Each session is tailored to the individual. Focus is on the physical manifestation of ailments with an understanding that the mental, emotional and spiritual are interconnected. I work intuitively, through our conversation and listening through my hands.

After each session my clients are empowered to take responsibility for their health through self-applied acupressure and holistic centering exercises.

WHAT IS ACUPRESSURE?

At it's foundation acupressure uses the same principal system as acupuncture. Instead of needles, finger pressure is used on the same points throughout the body. These points run along pathways, otherwise known as meridians. The entire body is concentrated energy, which is most easily accessed and influenced physically through these acupressure points, or acupoints. The intention of the practitioner towards optimal health for each client and the client's own sense of well-being have direct impact on sustaining a balanced, centered self. Intention for healing through these acupoints aids in alleviating many ailments.

Acupressure predates acupuncture from between 5,000 - 7,000 years, and is recorded as coming into existence throughout the globe simultaneously at roughly the same period in human history. Theses practices all closely relate to the same underlying concepts of acupressure.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The vascular system, lymph system, nervous system and circulatory system all carry energy throughout the body. We have nerve endings in the pads of our fingers and toes, and ears. When the pads of our fingers are pressed on to acupressure points, which overlap with the systems of the body, a circuit is completed. Most practitioners will use both hands on the body at the same time, maintaining a circuit through themselves as a conduit for energy. The practitioner holds a space for healing to occur and assists in facilitating, but the energy itself comes from within the client.

During a session, it's important for you to focus deeply as you breath in, accepting oxygen and invigorating your cells. Through your lungs oxygen is carried to your heart, binding it to your blood cells. The heart then pumps oxygenated blood throughout your body allowing you to absorb oxygen into every cell as you breath in.

“I had some neck and wrist issues ailing me. Jess applied tuning forks on the areas that were troubling me in conjunction with the pressure point treatment. Jess showed me a couple of pressure point exercises I could do on my own with controlled breathing. After a while, the pains went away!”

HEALING TECHNIQUES

Tui-Na Meridian massage and Ren Shen are typically infused with Acutonics Tuning Forks. Additional modalities: Reflexology, Guided Imagery or Off The Body techniques, may also be used depending on what is communicated energetically or through voiced preference. Each session is specific to the client, their ailments, and their preferences. It is not required for all techniques to be used, these are an offering of what is available.

TUI-NA MERIDIAN MASSAGE

Wind and Water style Tui-Na is a smooth flowing form of Chinese massage. Pressure is always according to the ailment and personal temperament. Tui-Na awakens the body for the deeper Ren Shen session.

REN SHEN

For those familiar with Japanese form of Jin Shin Jyutsu, this is a similar style. Combining holding of specific acupressure points with intention for the highest possible healing. The more actively engaged clients are during sessions, the more benefit they tend to experience.

ACUTONICS

Tuning forks are precisely harmonized to the same hertz as Ohm, Earth and Moon. When placed on acupressure points, they bring the body into alignment with these frequencies. The penetrating vibrations compliment the gentle style of acupressure.

REFLEXOLOGY

Physical connections manifest between the soles of the feet, palms, and ears through the nervous, lymph and vascular systems internally to the organs. Focusing on the feet and ankles provides essential grounding.

OFF THE BODY

The physical form is highly concentrated energy. The full breadth of our energetic selves extends past what we can see with our eyes. Clearing these outer fields can assist with current physical ailments related to past circumstances.

ANIMAL ACUPRESSURE

Animals have a keen sense of others intention. Calm and wellness within a practitioner contribute to the same within the animal. They respond marvelously well to acupressure as their energy flow is similar to humans.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Initial sessions last slightly longer than typical 60 or 90-minute sessions. The additional time is for me to get a better understanding of your ailment's root cause. We'll discuss if they're chronic or acute, how they affect your day-to-day life, and how painful they are. Together, we will determine your chief concern. Our focus will be on whatever you decide, while I also concentrate on everything else we've talked about. I try to not work with my mind, instead following my heart and intuition. All massage techniques are completely clothed on a massage table. Soft lighting and peaceful music aid in setting a relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable pillows, blankets, fans and heaters are available to maintain a comfortable temperature.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A SESSION

It's recommended to wear a comfortable fitting long sleeved shirt and pants. All natural, breathable materials are best. Have a good idea of what you would like to focus on and accomplish. Do not hesitate to ask questions before and during your session. Try not to eat any heavy foods just prior to your session. Plan on allowing yourself at least 30 minutes of relaxation afterwards; that could be a leisurely walk, or public transit ride back to work.
“Jess sessions placed me in a day-dreamy state. He is guided by his intuition, which allowed me to experience a very healing moment. I highly recommend trying this deeply therapeutic form of massage with Jess.”

FOOD IS LOVE

Good health starts with what one thinks of one's self; positivity providing a firm foundation, and includes being involved with what we eat and where it's sourced, taking responsibility for our health and becoming more tuned to our needs. The subtleties and nuances of our physical selves will become more and more present. Continuing to stay focused will give us greater and greater health physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

The foundation for any healthy regimen is food. Food also brings us closer together. It continues to occupy a majority of our time, even though we are blessed with farmers serving us from great distances. Food is sustenance. Food is social. Food is sharing of love - from the food itself to those preparing and through all we consume. With over ten years of professional experience working in restaurants, I encourage a sustainably harvested, local, whole food diet.

RESTAURANTS

I've worked at many fine-dining restaurants on the East Coast and in the Bay Area. I was Assistant Pastry Chef at both Aqua with Michael Mina and Gary Danko's. I cook with love and enjoy cuisines from all over the world. We gather around tables to share our lives and food with those closest to us. Eating is a social experience; restaurants bring us together.

AT HOME

I prefer local, Non-GMO, organically sustainable, pasture-raised, fresh whole foods. I like to shop at small independently owned stores and farmer's markets. I believe that we vote more profoundly with our dollar. I choose to direct this energy to those with current business practices that align with my ideals. Food is intertwined with so many aspects of our lives, it deserves the highest priority.

“Just minutes into my session with Jess energy began to alleviate the tension and anxiety that I held tight in my body. His touch had nurturing, healing qualities that addressed the root of my bodily pain and discomfort. I was left with a sound mind and a lightness when my session was completed.”
